What is Hydroponic Growing all about?

The word hydroponics is derived from two Greek words: ‚hydro‘ meaning water and ‚ponos‘ meaning labor. Hydroponic production can be with or without the use of an artificial medium (such as perlite, sand, gravel, peat, or sawdust) to provide mechanical support.

If you have ever suspended the pit from an avocado over water in a glass, or grown a sweet potato plant in water as part of a classroom experiment, you were using an elementary hydroponic system!

Although you may have only used water, a true hydroponics garden combines the use of water, a substrate, and a nutrient solution to grow plants quickly in far less space than a traditional garden.

The majority of hydroponic gardens are used to grow vegetables. However, this gardening method is also a great solution for creating unique flower gardens indoors or outdoors using a variety of container options.

A very simplified hydroponic system looks like the one in the besides shown picture.

What is a Hydroponic Growing System?

Our Hydroponic Growing System is a completely automated system that is all-inclusive and provides a complete solution for the grower.

With everything from programmable control systems for irrigation and fertigation to hydroponic racking, pumps, and LED grow lighting to simulate natural light, our Vertical Farming Systems give commercial growers the tools they need to produce high quality growth with optimal crop yields at cost-effective prices.

Why should I use Vertical Farming?

Vertical Farming is essentially using limited space and resources to grow plants in controlled environments in areas that may not otherwise be conducive to either year-round growth or growth cycles that are fast enough to fully meet demand.

What can be grown hydroponically?

  • Salads
  • Green

What are the advantages of growing hydroponically?

Because of growing flowers and other plants in a sterilised growing medium there are no weeds to overtake the garden.

There is no need for a huge yard to grow flowers using hydroponics. In fact, there is no need for a yard at all. Because the grower controls the amount of nutrients the garden gets on a consistent basis, one can grow a greater number of flowers and plants in less space while using far less water than a traditional soil-based garden requires.

One of the main advantages of a hydroponic system is that plants are growing up to 35% faster than in soil.

  • MORE:

    • More efficient use of water and fertilisers
    • With a good nutrition solution, plants are more tasty than gown in soil
    • The taste of plants can be influenced and /or modified
    • No soil is required
    • Nearly everything can be grown locally
    • Space requirements (greater return per square meter) and growing time are lessened
    • Year-round production
    • Heavy work is reduced
    • Pest and disease problems can be better controlled without harsh chemicals
    • Nutrients are recyclable
    • Weed problems are lessened
    • Crop rotation is not necessary
    • No water needed to clean up plants before consumption
    • Lower costs in production process per plant
